If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and wished a certain amount of fat from location X could somehow be moved to the buttocks area, you’re not alone.
Many of us are happy and satisfied with the overall size of our bodies, and yet … we’d love to reposition some of our contours. One of the most common areas that men and women would like to improve is the buttocks.
Whether it’s the overall shape, the amount of fullness, or the specific protrusion, most people have at least one gripe with their rear end.
If this is you, a Brazilian butt lift could be the cosmetic surgery you’ve been looking for.
In the simplest terms, a Brazilian butt lift is a cosmetic procedure that takes fat from one area of your body and reallocates it to the buttocks. There, your surgeon is able to manipulate the harvested fat in a way that achieves your ideal buttocks shape.
The end result of a Brazilian butt lift (also known as a BBL, buttocks enhancement, or gluteal augmentation) is an overall more proportional body — especially on the lower half. Your buttocks will be more well-rounded with fuller contours, and the areas from which the fat was harvested will be slimmer and smoother.
Think Kim Kardashian and the feminine curves that run from her slender waist to her curvaceous bottom. Though, of course, you can decide on the specific contours you would like for your own body.
Many men and women are interested in the results that a Brazilian butt lift offers, however, the idea of surgery makes them apprehensive to book a consultation appointment.
While this is certainly understandable, you’ll be happy to know that the Brazilian butt lift is a popular, frequently-performed surgery with few risks. Dr. Stark has performed BBL surgery many times and helped many patients achieve the buttocks shape and prominence they’ve dreamed of.
Here are some facts about Brazilian butt lift surgery that will help you understand the procedure a bit more:
Here are some of the most common questions we are asked about Brazilian butt lift surgery:
Q: How will I sit after surgery?
A: During the first few weeks after your surgery, you will not be able to sit on your bottom. This sounds intimidating to many patients, but with help from your aftercare instructions and the knowledge that this won’t last forever, many patients are surprised at how easy it is to make this adjustment.
Essentially, you need to place the weight of your body onto your thighs, instead of having it be on your buttocks. This can be achieved by simply spending more time in the prone position (lying down on your side or front). But it can also be achieved by putting a support (such as a rolled-up towel) beneath your thighs so that the weight of your body is on your thighs instead of on your buttocks.
Q: Will my results look natural?
A: Many people remark that Brazilian butt lift surgery results in a much more natural looking rear end, especially when compared to buttocks implants. This is because your own fat will be used during surgery. In addition to looking more natural, BBL surgery also comes with far fewer risks.
Q: What should I wear after surgery?
A: Directly after surgery, it’s a good idea to wear loose fitting clothing. You will certainly need to wear your compression garments, which will be tighter fitting. But putting on a pair of tight jeans is not a good idea right away. As you continue to go to your follow-up appointments with Dr. Stark, he will advise you on when you can return to wearing your normal wardrobe.
